| You know, I have a hole in my roof that isn't yet repaired (there's a tupper-ware container in the attic catching the water that leaks in when it rains), and work won't start until late this coming week, if then.
And now this.
It's 4am. I can't sleep. Why? Because it's 87 freakin' degrees in here. Why is that? Well, the air conditioner (I have central air) won't come on. Why? I have no clue. I went to a party this evening, and when I came home, things seemed fine, but I realize that I don't recall having heard the air conditioner kick on. After a while I was noticing it was WARM. So I check the thermostat, and the horrible truth begins to sink in.
So great. I've got $1400 worth of repairs queued up for the damn roof and the guest closet, and now I've got to make some sort of emergency call in the morning to see if I can't get this air conditioner fixed ASAP. What the hell? I looked around the outside unit (in the dark) and poked around in the attic where the fans and blowers and stuff are, and ... I don't see anything wrong. I reset the breaker. Nothing. I can't see a single thing, and have no clue what could have happened. It just ... stopped.
And I have no fans. And it's at least as hot outside, so opening a window isn't a solution.
I don't know how I'm supposed to work on Monday if this isn't fixed... with the computers pumping out their own heat, the office is already always the warmest room in the house. I'm going to hate to see what it's like without air conditioning.
My fingers are crossed that it's something quick and simple, but something tells me that I'm just not that lucky. Previous history would seem to back me up on that. Sigh. |
